Around the
Kitchen Table

During June 2022 we were fortunate to welcome Sophie Hansen and Annie Herron to Windy Station Woolshed to run a series of workshops and events. Sophie and Annie have recently released their new collaboration “Around the Kitchen Table”, a gorgeous collection of beautiful things to cook and create the whole year through. Both Annie and Sophie are well known personalities in Australia for their skills in cooking and art. This is Sophie’s 5th book and Annie’s first.

During the workshops we explored different aspects of the book.

Day 1 looked at ways to build community through Social Media. Our group of 15 looked at photography, communication through words and pictures, the ideal audience, ways to collaborate and recent updates of Instagram. The woolshed was a beautiful backdrop for photography and guests were in their element producing some beautiful content for their very successful businesses.

Day 2 was filled with food and art! During the morning session our guests were treated to a live cooking demonstration by Sophie who gave some tips, tricks, and techniques on making some of the many dishes from her newest book. We learnt the art of pastry making, along with some really easy ways to prepare a meal for visitors. During the afternoon guests were treated to some hands-on art! Mono printing and collage works were on display, a very clever group. To make the day even more special, we celebrated the UK release of “Around the Kitchen Table”.

Day 3 was the day we filled the shearing board with 100 guests! It was a beautiful day with lunch inspired by “Around the Kitchen Table” and accompanied by locally made gin from Magpie Distillery in Murrurundi. Guests were treated to an “in conversation” style interview with local caterer Treen from Relish Catering, Geoff from Magpie Distillery and of course Sophie and Annie! The woolshed looked beautiful and took very little decoration but citrus and cotton from the farm was used and created lots of interest with guests who came from far away. This style of event is something we hope to see more of in the woolshed as we continue to connect consumer direct to the producer.
